Year of establishment : 2006-07


Established in 1990,15th August our North Maharashtra University stands tall and has achieved big goals in the last 21 years. For more than two decades the University has strived hard to integrate. The nearby areas of Jalgaon, Dhule and Nandurbar District students to pursue highter education in various departments. NAAC Commitee has paid special attention to the various activites of the University and has granted a 'B' grade with 2.88 marks to the University. Along with the Science Technology, Literature and Languages, the School of Social Sciences has emerged to consolidate the learning process at the University.Conseqnently, all the advanced programmes (M.A.,M.Phil and Ph.D.) are undertaken in the School of Social Sciences. The Changing era of globalization and it's effect on the social system and the foreseeable challenges arising from the social, political, cultural and economical conditions are to be studied. While so the solution provided by the social sphare would enhance the national growth and development encouraging the youth, has been the main objective of the shcool. Today, new dimensions in areas of research are available with the Social Sciences and Humanities disciplines. The School has not just been efficient in introducing, research but also persues varied areas of research. The School of Social Sciences has independent building and offers guidence for Competitive Exam, NET-SET, M.Phil, Ph.D.

Special Feature

The School of Social Sciences has established ‘Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chair and Research Centre’ in the university campus for faciliating vast writings on Maratha history, major research and publications on Maratha history with the kind support of public fund and experts of historians. Our Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor also had established ‘Khandesh Archievs and Museum’to collect and to preserve historical documents regarding Khandesh and Maharashtrian regional history and to give inspiration to research students.

Admission eligibility/criteria/procedure

For M.A. :

  1. Eligibility :

    1. Bachelor degree in Any Faculty from any recognized University with at least 50 % marks*.

    * For the reserved category (SC/ST/DT/NT) candidates, the minimum marks limit is 45 %.

  2. Criteria :
    Selection is based entirely on candidate's percentage of marks obtained at the graduation, preferences given by the candidate and availability of the seats.

  3. Procedure :
    For admission to M.A. programs, an advertisement is published in some leading newspapers in the month of May every year. The prescribed application forms are available at the Office of the School.

For Ph.D. Program :

  • Candidates with good academic record at graduation and post-graduation level.

  • The admission to Ph.D. program is open throughout the academic year. It can be joined directly after completion of the M.A. degree. A number of research scholarships are available for the student during his/her Ph.D. work through research project grants and/or university fund.
