The Department of Mathematics offered the course of M. Sc. Mathematics
(with specialization in Computational Mathematics), whereas the Department of Statistics
offered the course of M. Sc. Statistics (with specialization in Industrial Statistics).
During the two years of M. Sc. Mathematics, students learn the pure and applied
mathematics. Also, they learn the use of mathematical softwares, programming language
C for computations and numerical solutions. Whereas in the course of M. Sc. Statistics
they learn the statistics courses which are more useful for quality control, marketing
strategy for the Industry, Banking and Insurance field.
In 2007, we have started a one year post graduate diploma in
Actuarial Science (PGDAS) and major components covered by this course are: Financial
and Actuarial Mathematics and Statistics, Finance and Financial reporting, Statistical
Models and Methods. Also with effect from academic year 2010-11 we are introducing Five year integrated dual course B.Sc.+ M.Sc.(Actuarial Science).
