This department runs a two year M. tech. course in Nanoscience and Technology under the “UGC Innovative Program’. The total intake of the course is 18; selection is made on the basis of written aptitude test and interview conducted by the university. The program covers areas such as basics of nanotechnology, synthesis of nanoparticles and their characterization, surface chemistry and application and device fabrication. The sophisticated instrumentation facility at the department for the characterization of nanomaterials includes AFM, FTIR, DSC, TGA, Surface area analyzer, etc. The department is also in the process of purchasing XRD, FESEM, GPC, particle size analyzer, spray drier, etc. The academic flexibility, credit system and well designed syllabus have been implemented for all-round evaluation of students aspiring professional technocrats of high caliber. The research project work in third and fourth semester of the M. Tech. program is supported by renowned industries/organizations/institutes. The ultimate objective of this program is to make the students proficient in the field of nanotechnology; arming them with greater knowledge about the latest cutting edge technology to increase their participation in this ever-advancing field of science.
